Club Gymkhana – Sunday 13 October: CANCELLED! After obtaining consent for the use of Trentham Park, the local council hit us with a new requirement to submit a Health & Safety Plan for our annual event, which attracts less than a dozen members. They did forward a suggested template for such a document, running to 9 pages, but this incorporated expectations well above those that our organiser (me) was prepared to accept as being personally responsible – and in a document that could be used against me – such is the world today!!! In the meantime, your committee will be reviewing the future of this event!

2019 Peugeot Interclub Weekend: – 1-3 November. Plans are in place for this event to be re-scheduled to this weekend, based around Taumarunui. Members of the two Peugeot clubs – Auckland and Wellington have been meeting up every two years for a weekend of activities and camaraderie for many years. The Interclub Trophy is up for grabs and over the 12 weekends since 1994 it has been held by each club six times. Nick Watson has advised the following outline programme:-
Friday – assemble at Taumarunui and meet for dinner
Saturday – Navigation Trial around the region which will involve some gravel roads.
Sunday – organised event yet to be confirmed. It is unlikely there will be a gymkhana due to the ongoing wet conditions in most paddocks – this could change by November.
IMPORTANT: if you are likely to attend we suggest you book your accommodation soon – please ring Alan at the Alexander Spa Motel. A special rate of $110 per night is being offered for a shared twin unit – phone 07 895 8501.

Classic as Classic Cars: – Sunday 3 November: Members of the NZ Classic Car clubs are putting their cars on show from 10am – 3pm under the sales in front of the Wellington Museum, on the waterfront.

End of Year Dinner – Saturday 30 November. At this stage we are planning for our Xmas gathering to be held at Sea Salt Restaurant, Days Bay. Their Christmas menu is attached.

Lake Ferry Excursion – Saturday 13 December: This is the 39th anniversary of the annual classic car drive to Lake Ferry, organised by the Sunbeam Car Club. There is an open invitation to all car enthusiasts to join in, meeting up at the Fell Museum in Featherston at 11am for an 11.30 departure for Lake Ferry. Bring a picnic lunch or join the crowd at the local hotel for lunch. A good crowd is always present, so do join in.

Anniversary Rally for the 404. In 2010 Sven Slager and Tony Haycock organised a highly successful 50th anniversary run for owners of the 404, with about 20 cars participating in a run from Picton to Akaroa near Christchurch. Sven now advises he is looking towards a 60th anniversary run in 2020 and hopes he can attract an equally impressive entry of 404s with a run circulating the central North Island. A suggested Tour de la Nouvelle-Zélandé is the loop – New Plymouth-Taumarunui- Cambridge- Taupo- Napier-Masterton- Whanganui- New Plymouth, to be held possibly next March. Sven is keen to hear from fellow 404 owners on their thoughts and interest in such a run. It is thought desirable for there to be local organisers familiar with their region to input into the overall programme. Contact Sven at 027 769 5919 or email
