Progamme Flyer: March 2018

To all members
We have a busy programme of events coming up, and we hope there is something there to interest you.

CLUB CONCOURS – Sunday 18 March:  This annual event (aka Shine and Show) will prompt you to show off your car at its best – so, give the car a wash, and a polish if you like, put the vacuum through the inside and come along.  And so you know, our ‘judging’ gives extra points for both age and mileage, so the car does not have to be showroom new to win!  Our venue will again be in the garden of our member Paul Wilson at 15 Matai Road, Raumati South from 2pm.  Turn off SH1 at the southern end of Raumati into Poplar Avenue (under the southern end of the expressway)- Matai is the second on the right  PLEASE NOTE:  This is an outdoor fine weather event.  If there is any doubt please ring the Secretary.

PEUGEOT’S SUV FLEET – Sunday 25 March.  In recent months the composition of Peugeot’s new car fleet in NZ has altered radically.  First we had the 2008, and now there is the COTY 3008 and lately the 5008. – all variations of the popular SUV style.  To introduce these to members we have arranged to visit the showroom of Armstrong Peugeot in Railway Avenue, Lower Hutt at 2pm.

GYMKHANA EVENT – Sunday 15 April:  The annual grass gymkhana will be held at Trentham Memorial Park, Upper Hutt, commencing at 2pm.  (The venue booking has been made, but not confirmed by the UHCC at the time of writing)  The venue is accessed via a gate at the river end of the park off Holdsworth Avenue – go via Brentwood Street, off Fergusson Drive.  This event usually comprises a series of short driving tests through cones, often against the clock, testing your steering skills and smooth acceleration.  As you drive at the speed you feel comfortable with, this is not a speed event as such, so do not let that put you off!  However, this is a dry weather event – check with the Secretary if in any doubt!.  Confirmation will be advised next month.

NOTE: The Transmission Gully Event below has had to be postponed till February or March Next Year

TRANSMISSION GULLY MOTOR SHOW – Sunday 22 April.  The Plimmerton Rotary Club are hosting a car show at Battle Hill Farm with support from the new ExpressWay developers, which passes close by.  Many of the local car clubs, including ours, have indicated an interest in displaying members cars.  We hope to have 6-8 Peugeots on display.  More details are to follow from the organisers.

TECHNICAL AFTERNOON – Saturday 28 April, with our Technical Officer, Chuni Govan, at his workshop at 303 Moores Valley Road, Wainuiomata from 1.30pm.  Time for another of these opportunities for a closer inspection of your car, a spot of diagnosis, fix up a problem, or get some good advice.  Our host will have the full workshop facilities including the hoist at our disposal..

Over the holiday season, a new model had a low key launch into NZ – the 5008 is an addition to Peugeot’s SUV fleet.  Meanwhile at the Geneva Motor Show, on right now, Peugeot is displaying a second generation 508 due for production later in the year.
Can you help us out with storage!  Many years ago, we came by a large volume of new parts, which have been stored in various locations, often with the generous assistance of members.  One of those members in Wainuiomata has indicated he needs the Peugeot glass relocated (screens, door glass etc – about a station wagon sized lot).  If any member can assist with a corner of a garage etc, please contact the Secretary, otherwise it is likely to be dumped.
