2019 INTERCLUB MEET – POSTPONED! We regret to advise that the Interclub Meet that was to be held later in the month has had to be postponed for now. Today we received advice from the Taumarunui based organiser, Nick Watson that he has been seconded to Australia to fight bush fires. His message to both clubs is as follows:-

‘Hi both of you, sorry to do this but just got my deployment papers 10 mins ago. I’m off to Melbourne tomorrow night to fight bushfires for 4 weeks. We will need to postpone the event I’m sorry for the late notice but cant be helped sometimes.’

Those that we knew were going have been advised directly. However, if you had been in contact with the motel providing accommodation, we suggest you give them a ring ASAP. Naturally we are disappointed, but as a rural fire chief his experience and expertise are needed across the ditch.

CLUB SHINE & SHOW – Sunday 7 April: Aka the Club Concours, Venue is to be confirmed shortly, but mark it in your diary now. Give the car a wash and perhaps a polish if you want to and come along. Our judges take account of the cars age and mileage, so new can mix it with old.

News: For those with an interest, Armstrong Peugeot in Railway Avenue, Lower Hutt has one of the new 508 GT models from the initial delivery for viewing etc.

FOR SALE etc. Contact the Secretary if you want a listing here!

CLUB GYMKHANA – Sunday 10 March: As already advised, we hope to hold this twice postponed gymkhana if the weather gods are on our side. The grass event will be held at Trentham Memorial Park, Upper Hutt, commencing at 2pm. The venue is accessed via a gate at the river end of the park, off Holdsworth Avenue – go via Brentwood Street, off Fergusson Drive. This event usually comprises a series of short driving tests through cones, often against the clock, testing your steering skills and smooth acceleration. As you drive at the speed you feel comfortable with, this is not a speed event as such, so do not let that put you off! However, this is a dry weather event – check with the Secretary if in any doubt. Confirmation of Council permission has been received

2019 INTERCLUB MEET – Weekend of 29-30 March: This is the biennial get together with members of the Auckland club, with a weekend of activities centred on Taumarunui for the Interclub Trophy, which we won in 2017. Agreement has been reached on the date, and local Taumarunui accommodation has been reserved at the Alexandra Spa Motel (we have been quoted $110 a night – 12 rooms reserved – first in). Please book direct – phone 07 895 8501 and quote “Peugeot Rally”.
Nick Watson has kindly accepted the roll of local organiser, and he has a great weekend of activity arranged. More details will be advised as they come to hand. The 2017 event, also organised by Nick was well received, so we expect this to be equally as good! Please ALSO liaise with the Secretary, so we can be aware of who is likely to be participating from the Wellington club.

CLUB SHINE & SHOW – Sunday 7 April: Aka the Club Concours, Venue is to be confirmed, but mark it in your diary now. Give the car a wash and perhaps a polish if you want to and come along. Our judges take account of the cars age and mileage, so new can mix it with old.

News: At last, the next club magazine is ready for print – look for it in your letter box next week. And here is a spoiler – pictures of the second generation Peugeot 208 have been released and you will see it shortly.
