February 2020 Programme Flyer
To all members
To all members
Firstly, a happy New Year to all our members. In Wellington we are still waiting for summer, but the lack of sun is a whole lot better than the present downpour in Southland. After a brief recess for the holiday season, the new club year is underway.
CLUB NOVELTY RUN – Sunday 16 February: Trevor Barnes has organised an afternoon run for us, starting in the carpark behind Pataka Art+Museum in Porirua. Please be ready for a 1pm start. You may wish to arrive early and have lunch at the Cafe Kaizen in Pataka.
To reach the start – from the SH1 motorway, take the main interchange for Porirua onto Titahi Bay Road. Straight ahead at the next lights (Lyttleton Ave); Take 3rd exit at the next roundabout into Semple St, then 2nd exit at the next roundabout into Parumoana St, then 3rd exit at the next roundabout into Wi Neera Drive (towards Te Rauparaha Arena. Enter the first carpark on the right (CAUTION – not the NO ENTRY exit) and drive to the far end. We are looking forward to the first club outing for 2020.
BRITISH & EUROPEAN CAR DAY – this Sunday 9 February from 10am till 4pm, at Trentham Memorial Park. An entry fee per car of $10 is collected (for charity). While we are not participating as a club this year, it attracts an excellent collection of cars from the lower North Island, and is well worth a visit
ANNIVERSARY RALLY for the 404. In 2010 Sven Slager and Tony Haycock organised a highly successful 50th anniversary run for owners of the 404, with about 20 cars participating in a run from Picton to Akaroa near Christchurch. Sven has advised he is planning a 60th anniversary run in 2020 and hopes he can attract an equally impressive entry of 404s with a run in the central North Island. Sven is keen to hear from fellow 404 owners on their thoughts and interest in such a run. Contact Sven at 027 769 5919 or email email@example.com
