Club Flyer
June 2010
PROGRAMME UPDATE:
CLUB NIGHT – Tuesday 29 June: The next club night will be held in rooms in the Firemans Alms, 313 Jackson Street, Petone, when we will have a showing of the classic Steve McQueen film ‘Le Mans’. The real race was held earlier this month, and was disastrous for Peugeot with four retirements. Meet at 7.30pm, or come early and enjoy a pizza for tea before the show. The Firemans Alms is at the Hutt River end of the shops, on the Northern side of the road.
NOVELTY RUN – Sunday 4 July: Jason & Meredith Morris have agreed to run another Novelty Drive around parts of the Hutt Valley. The aim is to follow a set of instructions taking you to some interesting parts of the valley, and answer questions along the way, so a passenger would be of great help. Meet in the car park of the Dowse Gallery in Laings Road, Lower Hutt at 2.00pm. Come early and take in the current displays/exhibitions at the Dowse, and or use their excellent café. The last time they ran one of these was great fun.
2010 Annual General Meeting – Tuesday 29 July: A separate notice for this special meeting is enclosed with this flyer. This will mark the club’s 35th year. We hope you will take the time to attend, and help set the course for the next year.
NEWS ITEMS:
The effort that went into Peugeot’s Le Mans race preparation was all for naught when the fourth and final entry still running expired with turbo problems. This component sidelined all four cars, but had never given any problems in several seasons of long distance racing. Things look good at the start with all four Peugeots occupying the first four places on the grid. However it was the Audi team that had all the smiles at the finish.
We hear that the NZ launch of the RCZ coupe is not that far away. You can find out more on the local importer’s web site www.peugeot.co.nz
The next issue of the club magazine ‘Torque’ should be with you shortly - just the last 5 pages to prepare.
The GTI is back, at least in name as Peugeot launches a GTI version of the 308 for sale in France. It features a 200bhp 1600cc turbo engine, giving the 308 brisk performance.
