PROGRAMME UPDATE
(see this web site for regular updates)
GYMKHANA EVENT – Sunday 7 March. A reminder that we return to Trentham Memorial Park next Sunday at 2.00 pm for this year’s grass gymkhana event. Always very popular, the event comprises a series of driving test on a grass surface, usually around cones and usually against the clock. Drivers get two attempts at each. To reach the relevant entrance to the park – picnic area 5, drive to the Hutt River end of Brentwood Street (off Fergusson Drive, Trentham). If the gate is locked look out for the Peugeots ahead of you, and yell/wave!!!! The following Sunday is a reserve day, if wet – ring the Secretary if in doubt. This event has already been put back a week as the park was already booked for a major event, so we hope for a fine day.
CLUB NIGHT – Wednesday 10 March. We have arranged to visit the premises of Smith & Smith Auto Glass, at 69 The Esplanade, Petone, for an evening learning about the widow glass service they provide, the changing of windscreens and star crack repair. Meet at 6.30pm.
50th ANNIVERSARY OF THE 404 – Easter 2010: Our last club Torque magazine contained details of the main event. Now we hear that an extended run in the South Island is being proposed, lead by Auckland Club President, Greg Winkley. At the end of the main celebrations it is intended to take those wishing to participate further south to Wanaka, and onto Invercargill. Further details can be obtained by ringing Shayne Mathieson at 09 483 4023, mob 021 228 2228 or email to shayne.mathieson@clear.net.nz
Future events: In April we hope to introduce club members to the far from gentile sport of Croquet, courtesy of several members who already play. We are also planning a trip to the Wairarapa to visit the Stonehenge Aotearoa site, and then view the Peugeot collection of Ian Lambess.
NEWS REPORT: The 408 makes a first appearance but it is for China (& is only a 308 with boot), while the 407 replacement likely to be called the 508 will be shown as a concept car at this week’s Geneva Motor Show. Pictures below.
